From the author:
Downtown Los Angeles can be a strange place to walk around with its many desolate streets and decrepit buildings; sometimes I forget I'm in the middle of America's second largest city. Its landscape is changing quickly though, with decades of urban grit giving way to new development.
This book documents every last payphone on the streets of Downtown, from the 110 freeway to the LA River and from Cesar Chavez down to Washington Boulevard. Since completion, several of these phones have been removed. I imagine many more will have met the same fate by the time you have read this.
